چکیده

The magnetic dipole strength and energy-weighted strength distribution is calculated in 8 Be, as well as the separate orbit and spin parts. All ∆N =2 excitations over and above (and including) the configuration 0s 4 0p 4 are included. The interaction has a central, two-body spin-orbit and a tensor part. The energy-independent and energy-weighted orbital strength distribution is remarkably insensitive to the presence or absence of the spin-orbit or tensor interaction-not so the spin strength. The energy-weighted strength distribution can be divided into a low enegy and a high energy part. The high energy orbital part is somewhat less but close to the low energy part, in fair agreement with a prediction that they be equal by de Guerra and Zamick and by Nojarov. There is a wide plateau separating the low energy part from the high energy part.

Spin-orbital gapped phase with least symmetry breaking in the one-dimensional symmetrically coupled spin-orbital model

To describe the spin-orbital energy gap formation in the one-dimensional symmetrically coupled spin-orbital model, we propose a simple mean field theory based on an SU(4) constraint fermion representation of spins and orbitals. A spin-orbital gapped phase is formed due to a marginally relevant spin-orbital valence bond pairing interaction. The energy gap of the spin and orbital excitations grow...

The electromagnetic excitation of the two-phonon isovector giant dipole resonance in relativistic projectiles incident on heavy targets can be proceed via several intermediate 1 − one-phonon giant resonance states. In two step electric dipole transitions the population of 0 + , 1 + , and 2 + two-phonon states are possible. We calculate the amplitude distribution of 1 − excitations with an RPA f...

We study the cross-correlation between the spin and orbital parts of magnetic dipole transitions M1 in both isoscalar and isovector channels. In particular, we closely examine certain cases where ∑ B(M1) is very close to ∑ B(M1)σ + ∑ B(M1)l, implying a cancellation of the summed interference terms. We gain some insight into this problem by considering special cases approaching the SU(3) limit, ...

The double-dipole strength distribution in 40 Ca is calculated microscopically within a model space of 1p1h-and 2p2h excitations. Anharmonic effects in the centroid energies of the 0 +-and 2 + components are found to be small, in agreement with experimental observation. Firm conclusions about the spreading width cannot be drawn, as yet, due to computational limitations in the number of 2p2h sta...

The summed strength for transitions from the ground state of 12 C via the operators st, ℓt, rY ′ t, r[Y ′ s] λ t and r[Y ′ ℓ] λ t are calculated using the ∆N = 0 rotational model. If we choose the z component of the isospin operator t z , the above operators are relevant to electromagnetic transitions; if we choose t + they are relevant to weak transitions such as neutrino capture. In going fro...
